Mother tragically dies after seeking ER help

Date:

A tragic incident occurred when a mother of three, Kellie Montgomery, aged 37 and from Co Down, passed away suddenly at home just days after seeking medical help at the Ulster Hospital’s Emergency Department on September 23 for severe endometriosis-related pain. Despite being initially informed she would be kept overnight, Kellie was discharged at 2 am and left the hospital in discomfort, having to endure the cold outside.

Kellie’s partner, John Fletcher, expressed his distress over the events leading up to her death. He recounted the challenging experience at the hospital, where Kellie, in a weakened state, faced long waiting times and inadequate pain management. Despite efforts to seek appropriate care for Kellie, the family was left bewildered by her sudden passing.

While there is no indication that Kellie’s demise is directly linked to her treatment at the Emergency Department, her family remains unsettled by the uncertainties surrounding her death. John highlighted the concerns raised about the care Kellie received and the distressing circumstances leading up to her tragic end.

Following her discharge from the hospital, Kellie’s health deteriorated rapidly, leading to her collapsing at home. Despite John’s desperate attempts to save her, Kellie was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately did not survive. The South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust expressed deep sadness over Kellie’s passing and extended heartfelt condolences to her loved ones during this challenging time.
