Sky TV users are in for some disappointing news as a recently launched product is set to be discontinued starting next month. Sky Live, introduced in 2023 as an innovative entertainment device meant to revolutionize TV usage, will be deactivated on December 4. This gadget, designed to work with Sky’s Glass TV, offered interactive gaming experiences like Fruit Ninja, Stingray Karaoke, and Peppa Pig: Jump and Giggle for a monthly subscription fee of £6. In addition to gaming, it provided features such as exercise monitoring during home fitness sessions and the ability to host Zoom calls for group content viewing, including Sky Sports.
Despite its promising features, Sky Live failed to gain the anticipated popularity, leading to its imminent shutdown. While the device will cease to function, Sky assures users that games like the recently launched Who Wants To Be A Millionaire will still be available, now without the need for an additional subscription.
A Sky spokesperson emphasized the company’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, highlighting recent advancements in the Sky Glass range and broadband services. The decision to discontinue Sky Live reflects a strategic shift towards enhancing core offerings and service quality. Customers who bought Sky Live will receive refunds and instructions on returning the product conveniently with free postage.
Affected users can expect detailed communication via email this week regarding the discontinuation of Sky Live and the refund process.
