“UK Braces for Snowfall: 3 Regions to See Winter Whiteout”

Date:

Recent UK weather maps indicate that three UK regions are expected to experience snowfall in the coming days.

Although the southern part of the country has enjoyed unusually warm weather this week, a shift to colder temperatures is forecasted for November. Analysis by WX Charts meteorologists has pinpointed areas in England, Scotland, and Wales where snow showers are likely to occur. The weather charts display varying shades of purple, white, and blue, signaling the incoming colder conditions. Projections suggest that up to 56cm of snow could blanket certain regions around November 17.

The regions in the UK expected to be hit hardest by snowfall are north-west England, North Wales, and most of Scotland. Particularly, parts of the Scottish Highlands could experience heavy snowfall of up to 56cm, as indicated by WX Charts data. Cities like Edinburgh and Glasgow might see around 3cm of snow accumulation.

Anticipated snowfall amounts include up to 3cm in parts of North Wales by 6am on November 17. Other regions like North Yorkshire could see 6cm of snow, with 5cm expected in Cumbria and 3cm near Greater Manchester.

The Met Office’s extended forecast for the upcoming period suggests a trend towards colder weather conditions in the latter half of the month.

For the period spanning November 11-20, the Met Office stated: “The initial phase is likely to be unsettled and relatively mild, with rain bands moving across various UK regions, focusing more on western and potentially southern areas.

“Periods of heavy rain may be accompanied by strong winds. Some drier intervals are expected, mainly towards the east and possibly the north.

“During clear, calm nights, frost and fog formation is probable, with fog persisting. Towards mid-month, a transition to drier conditions nationwide is likely, with a slight overall cooling trend and increased risk of overnight frost.”

Recent weather maps have raised concerns of a prolonged snow freeze lasting 92 hours and the arrival of Arctic temperatures as low as -6C in the UK.

According to WX Charts data starting from November 15, regions like the Midlands, north-west England, and Scotland are expected to face snowfall. Temperatures in the Scottish Highlands could plummet to as low as -2C.

Snowfall is also on the horizon for Wales and the north-west of England by November 16. By Monday, November 17, weather predictions indicate snow cover from Scotland to Cumbria and Snowdonia in Wales, with temperatures dropping to their lowest levels during that period, reaching a bone-chilling -5 and -6C.

By November 18, temperatures could dip as low as -5C in Ireland, mid-Wales, and Scotland, with freezing conditions persisting until November 19.
