Quick-acting Couple Saves Girl on Roller Coaster

Date:

A couple was enjoying a thrilling ride when they heard distressing screams behind them, prompting them to take action to help a young girl whose seatbelt had malfunctioned. The dramatic incident, captured in a widely shared photo on social media, took place at Worlds of Fun amusement park in Kansas City, Missouri.

Chris and Cassie Evins, parents of four children, were on the Mamba roller coaster at the park when they noticed the girl behind them in distress. Despite the ride’s high speed and height, the couple quickly realized the seriousness of the situation as the girl’s seatbelt had come undone.

Acting swiftly, Chris and Cassie reached behind them to secure the girl, with Chris holding her in place while his wife assisted. They strategically positioned themselves to prevent the girl from being lifted out of her seat during the ride’s intense moments.

Following the incident, the amusement park conducted a thorough safety review and made necessary modifications to ensure the ride met all safety standards before reopening to the public. The park confirmed that additional restraints were in place and emphasized the multi-layered safety features of the ride.

Further inspections by the Fire Marshall verified the functionality of the lap bars and seat belt buckles, reassuring that the ride was safe for operation. Modifications were made to certain seat belts to enhance safety measures, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations before the ride resumed normal operations.
