“Emma Raducanu Ends WTA Season Early at World No. 29”

Date:

Emma Raducanu has achieved one of her seasonal objectives as the WTA Tour season comes to a close. The young British tennis star concluded her season prematurely in early October due to health issues.

Raducanu’s season was filled with ups and downs. Despite securing notable victories at Wimbledon and the US Open, where she reclaimed her position as Britain’s top-ranked player, she faced fitness challenges towards the end. These troubles became apparent at the Ningbo Open, where she required medical attention and ultimately lost her opening match in three sets.

After grappling with various obstacles, Raducanu made the decision to end her season early while confirming that her coach, Francisco Roig, would remain with her in 2026. This move jeopardized her goal of being seeded for the Australian Open.

Exiting her final two tournaments of the year ranked 29th, Raducanu’s ambition to break into the top 32 was in doubt. With no additional ranking points added post-withdrawal, she awaited confirmation of achieving this milestone.

As the season concludes, Raducanu wraps up the year as the world No. 29. Barring a challenging start to the upcoming 2026 events, she is on track to be seeded at the Melbourne tournament.

In early October, Raducanu set her sights on being seeded at the Australian Open, emphasizing the importance of a higher ranking for better draw advantages. She highlighted the significance of being a role model and maintaining a positive attitude on and off the court.

Currently, Raducanu stands as the sole British representative within the top 32 of the WTA rankings, with Aryna Sabalenka claiming the top spot this year. The rankings also saw Iga Swiatek at second, Coco Gauff at third, and Amanda Anisimova closing the season at fourth.

Sky has reduced the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the upcoming 2025/26 season, offering savings and an extended lineup of live sports matches, including an increase in Premier League games.
