“Paul Gascoigne Mourns Boxing Pal Ricky Hatton’s Tragic Passing”

Date:

Paul Gascoigne expressed deep sorrow upon learning about the passing of his close friend Ricky Hatton. Hatton, a prominent figure in the world of boxing, was discovered deceased in his residence in Manchester last September, sending shockwaves through the sports community.

The funeral for Hatton took place at Manchester Cathedral, drawing thousands of mourners who lined the streets to pay their respects. An inquiry later disclosed that he had been found hanged.

A devoted Manchester City supporter, the 46-year-old Hatton had strong ties to football beyond just his allegiance to the Etihad Stadium. He had collaborated with former England footballer Gascoigne on a speaking tour, where their shared personalities fostered a strong bond.

Gascoigne fondly recalled his experiences with Hatton, highlighting the late boxer’s generous nature and warmth. He reminisced about their time together and the humorous moments they shared, showcasing Hatton’s vibrant character.

Known for his mischievous pranks during his playing days with clubs such as Newcastle, Tottenham, and Rangers, Gascoigne shared a light-hearted anecdote about a playful incident involving Hatton and a signed shoe.

Despite achieving 45 wins and only three losses in his boxing career, Hatton’s humility and approachability resonated with fans and admirers alike.

In a heartfelt statement following Hatton’s passing, his family described him as more than just a world champion, emphasizing his roles as a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many.

While Hatton had previously disclosed struggles with mental health and addiction, his family affirmed that he had been in a positive state before his untimely death. His manager, who discovered him, expressed a conviction that Hatton had not intended to end his life and had much to live for.

On a different note, Sky has announced a substantial discount on its Essential TV and Sky Sports package, offering substantial savings and an extensive lineup of live matches for the upcoming season, including a significant increase in the number of Premier League games to be broadcast.
