A shooting incident at a prominent shopping center in the United States led to the area being placed under lockdown. Law enforcement swiftly responded to Wolfchase Galleria Mall in Cordova, Memphis, Tennessee, following reports of gunshots inside the mall. Witnesses mentioned hearing three to five shots before being evacuated, with one person reportedly injured.
Officials from the Memphis Police Department indicated that the situation was under control and isolated, ruling out an active shooter scenario. The vicinity around the mall entrance, particularly near Macy’s, was heavily patrolled by Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers, Shelby County sheriff’s deputies, and Memphis police officers.
Eyewitnesses recounted hearing what resembled gunfire shortly after exiting an elevator, prompting an immediate lockdown of the mall until they could safely exit the premises. Allegedly, the suspect escaped in a white SUV, leading to the lifting of the lockdown as the individual left the building.
While initial reports from FOX13 suggested a fatality, official confirmation on the victim’s status is pending. The suspect was reported to have been apprehended, as per the news outlet.
