Pat Cummins Likely to Miss Second Ashes Test

Date:

Australia’s captain, Pat Cummins, is likely to be absent from the second Ashes Test as the team announced an unchanged 14-man squad for the upcoming day-night match in Brisbane. Cummins, who missed the previous game in Perth due to a lingering back issue, had been training well before the match but was left out of the squad. Despite additional fitness work and practicing with stand-in captain Steve Smith, Cummins was excluded from the team without an official reason given.

While there is a slight possibility of Cummins joining the squad later on, his absence remains a notable advantage for England. Mitchell Starc, who performed exceptionally in the previous match, will lead the bowling attack alongside Brendan Doggett and Scott Boland, as Josh Hazlewood remains sidelined. Usman Khawaja, despite struggling with back spasms, is retained in the squad, with uncertainty surrounding his place in the playing XI.

The Australia squad for the second Ashes Test includes Steve Smith (c), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Brendan Doggett, Cameron Green, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Michael Neser, Mitchell Starc, Jake Weatherald, and Beau Webster.

In other news, Sky has reduced the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the upcoming season, offering a significant discount and over 1,400 live matches across various sports leagues. Sky’s coverage includes a minimum of 215 live Premier League games each season, along with Formula 1, darts, golf, and more.
