British Man Fatally Shot in Ghana Robbery

Date:

A 68-year-old man from Britain was fatally shot during a robbery in southern Ghana, according to local law enforcement authorities.

The incident occurred on Friday at a bar across from the Community Nine cemetery in Tema, which is approximately 15 miles east of the capital city, Accra. The victim was quickly taken to Tema General Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries soon after arrival.

Reports indicate that the man was sitting with a group of individuals when six young men on motorcycles approached them. One of the men grabbed the victim’s phone before fleeing the scene with the group. As the victim tried to retrieve his phone, one of the suspects shot him, and the gang made a swift escape on their motorcycles.

A police statement revealed that two of the assailants engaged with the group, leading to the robbery and subsequent tragic outcome. The Tema Regional Police Command has initiated a comprehensive operation to locate and apprehend the suspects.

Authorities recovered a spent 9mm shell from the location, which is being processed as evidence. Interviews with witnesses have been conducted, and steps are being taken to inform the British High Commission about the British national’s death.

In response to the incident, a spokesperson from the Foreign Office informed The Mirror: “We are providing assistance to the family of the deceased individual in Ghana.”
