Inmate Flees HMP Wandsworth During Bail for Wedding

Date:

Another inmate from HMP Wandsworth has reportedly fled while on temporary bail to attend his brother’s wedding. Sean Middleborough, aged 32, did not return to the prison, prompting a search. Middleborough was awaiting trial for charges related to aggravated burglary, criminal damage, and violent disorder at the Elbit Systems UK building last year.

According to the Crown Prosecution Service, Middleborough’s bail decisions are determined by judges independently of the government. Absconding is a serious offense, potentially leading to extended imprisonment. Authorities are actively pursuing Middleborough, urging the public to provide any relevant information to the police.

This incident follows the accidental release of two other prisoners from the same facility. Brahim Kaddour-Cherif, a 24-year-old sex offender, was mistakenly released on October 29 but was apprehended on November 7. The second prisoner, William ‘Billy’ Smith, also mistakenly released on November 3, voluntarily surrendered to the authorities after a public appeal for his whereabouts.
