A woman was shocked when a cat suddenly crashed through her car’s windshield while she was driving, reportedly dropped by a bird of prey. The unusual incident took place on the US Route 74 highway in Swain County, North Carolina. The driver, traveling at 55mph, had to pull over immediately after the cat smashed through the glass, causing a significant impact.
Upon calling emergency services, the woman explained the situation, stating that a bald eagle had dropped the cat through her windshield. She described the shattered glass and the massive hole in the car’s windshield caused by the unexpected event. Witnesses confirmed the bizarre occurrence, with one person describing it as the “craziest thing” they had ever seen.
Fortunately, the driver was unharmed, and the cat was found dead at the scene. Highway Patrol officials confirmed the incident and towed the vehicle away. While it is uncommon for bald eagles to target cats, they may do so if the cat appears vulnerable. In a similar incident in British Columbia, Canada, a Yorkshire Terrier named CoCo narrowly escaped being lifted by a bald eagle in its owner’s backyard, sustaining only minor scratches.
The woman’s call to 911 and the subsequent response from the operator, along with the eyewitness account of the cat’s encounter with the bald eagle, added to the unusual nature of the event.
