“Mother Arrested in France for Drowning Infant in Bathtub”

Date:

A 31-year-old woman was apprehended by law enforcement in Bayeux, France, after she allegedly drowned her five-week-old infant following a dispute with the baby’s father. The tragic incident occurred after the parents argued at their residence, leading the mother to submerge the newborn in a bathtub on November 14. She then left the deceased baby behind and informed the father of her actions via a message.

Upon returning home, the father discovered the mother missing and alerted the authorities. The police located the woman in the vicinity shortly after and arrested her. She reportedly admitted to the crime. The mother is anticipated to face charges of murder and is scheduled to appear before a judge in Caen. Due to being under guardianship, her identity has been kept confidential.

The local community, including Arnaud Tanquerel, the deputy mayor of the town, expressed shock over the distressing event. Tanquerel emphasized the rarity of births in the area, further highlighting the impact of the incident. This incident follows a similar case in the United States where a mother was arrested for the death of her baby, who was left in a hot vehicle outside her workplace. Nyla Simmons, 22, was charged with second degree murder and cruelty to children after her infant tragically passed away in Georgia. Simmons is currently detained without bond at the Lee County Jail.
