“Fatal Crash: Man Killed as Refuse Truck Slams into Residence”

Tragedy struck in Leominster as a man lost his life when a large refuse truck crashed into the side of a residence during the early hours, causing extensive damage to the property.

Emergency response teams, including police, fire, and ambulance services, rushed to the scene following the collision on Bridge Street. The Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service received reports of the incident at 6:41 am and dispatched five fire crews to the location.

The fatal accident involved a bin lorry that veered off the road near the mini roundabout linking Mill Street and Bridge Street. The passenger in the truck, a man in his 60s, tragically lost his life, while the other two occupants sustained injuries, according to a statement by Supt Helen Wain of West Mercia Police.

Both the West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Mercia Police are still present at the site of the crash as investigations continue.

A spokesperson for Herefordshire Council highlighted ongoing efforts to evaluate the situation and urged the public to steer clear of the area to facilitate the emergency services’ operations. The spokesperson expressed gratitude for the prompt response of the emergency teams and assured that updates would be provided as more details emerge.

A local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, recounted being awakened by the deafening crash and expressed concern for the well-being of those involved, emphasizing the severity of the situation.

In a statement, a West Mercia Police spokesperson informed the public about the incident involving a bin lorry colliding with a house on Mill Street early in the morning. The road has been closed, and individuals are advised to avoid the area until further notice, with updates to follow as investigations progress.
