“MV Glen Shiel: Luxury Cruising in Scotland’s Serene Waters”

Date:

Sailing through the tranquil waters of Scotland’s west coast and the Hebrides, The Majestic Line provides a unique cruising experience far removed from the large ships commonly seen in European ports. The company’s fleet consists of four small boats, including purpose-built mini cruise ships and renovated fishing vessels transformed into luxury craft ideal for exploring the serene surroundings.

The latest addition to their fleet is the MV Glen Shiel, featuring only seven cabins, offering passengers a selection of itineraries ranging from a six-night voyage exploring Mull and the surrounding inlets and islands, to a 10-night Coastal Odyssey circling Cape Wrath, the most north-westerly point in Great Britain.

Cruising aboard the MV Glen Shiel means being one of just 12 passengers. This newly renovated ship, which had its maiden voyage in 2019 and underwent further enhancements in 2025 for added luxury, allows for visits to more remote destinations than larger vessels and the flexibility to anchor in diverse locations.

Designed to resemble a 1930s gentleman’s motor yacht, the MV Glen Shiel exudes an elegant and understated style. Onboard amenities include a well-stocked bar serving a variety of drinks, including a selection of whiskies. Unlike traditional cruises with buffets and large dining areas, passengers dine together at a communal table each evening, fostering a sense of camaraderie and providing an opportunity to share the day’s experiences. Pre-dinner al-fresco drinks and canapes enhance the overall dining experience while enjoying the picturesque views.

The ship’s seven cabins are all ensuite and offer the flexibility to be configured as double or twin rooms. Each itinerary includes stops at local towns and villages, allowing passengers to immerse themselves in the region’s rich culture and explore charming locations.

With a small crew of only four onboard – a skipper, chef, engineer, and steward – The Majestic Line ensures personalized service for each guest. This intimate setting allows for a more tailored and attentive guest experience.

Notable stops on the cruise include the vibrant town of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, renowned for its colorful houses, and sailing along the Torridon Mountains, providing breathtaking views of the ancient sandstone peaks. Longer cruises offer the chance to navigate around Cape Wrath, known for its pristine coastlines teeming with wildlife, including puffin colonies.
