A British supporter of Putin, accused of involvement in war crimes in Ukraine, has shamelessly boasted about his actions when confronted. Graham Phillips, a former civil servant, is currently being investigated by the Metropolitan Police’s War Crimes Team for disturbing incidents involving dead Ukrainian soldiers and mistreatment of a British ex-POW, Aiden Aslin. Despite the public outrage over his alleged offenses, Phillips boldly flaunted his misdeeds in a post on Telegram, showcasing newspaper coverage and humorously suggesting that his followers save copies for his future prime ministerial autographs.
Phillips, known for his pro-Putin stance, previously glorified a video showing pigs feeding on a deceased Ukrainian soldier’s remains. In the appalling footage, a Russian soldier is seen handling the ID of the fallen soldier while Phillips callously mocks the situation, referring to the deceased as food for the pigs. The Metropolitan Police’s War Crimes Team confirmed an ongoing investigation into Phillips, with close coordination with the Crown Prosecution Service, focusing on potential breaches of the Geneva Convention, particularly regarding the dignity of deceased individuals and their burial sites.
Oleksiy Goncharenko, a Ukrainian politician, condemned Phillips’ actions and commended the UK authorities for pursuing the investigation, labeling Phillips as a propagandist and a war criminal. Despite facing UK sanctions, Phillips currently resides in Mariupol, Ukraine, and has openly admitted to recording the controversial pig video in the Donbas region. Dismissing criticism, Phillips justified his actions by accusing the Ukrainian soldiers of hostility towards civilians supporting Russia’s interests in Donbas.
In a recent online outburst, Phillips criticized former US President Donald Trump’s proposed peace plan for Ukraine, adamantly asserting that Donbass belongs to Russia and rejecting any suggestions of compromise. The Metropolitan Police has been contacted for further comments on the ongoing investigation.
