Two children, a nine-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl, are facing serious charges after allegedly assaulting and severely injuring a five-year-old girl in Ohio. The incident took place in Cleveland on September 13 when the young victim, who has remained unidentified, went missing from a relative’s home. Shortly after, she was discovered in a nearby field, unconscious and with severe injuries.
The boy and girl are accused of attempted murder and rape in connection with the incident. While the 10-year-old girl appeared in court and denied the charges, the nine-year-old boy failed to attend his arraignment, leading the judge to issue a warning of a potential arrest warrant if he misses further hearings. The children are also charged with felonious assault, kidnapping, and strangulation.
According to prosecutors, the victim, who is autistic, was subjected to urine and sexual assault before being found and hospitalized for several days. The victim’s mother urged the judge to consider the severity of the situation when deciding the fate of the accused children, emphasizing that their actions were deliberate and callous.
During the court proceedings, the accused girl, accompanied by a female adult, remained silent while wearing a mask and a pink coat with a fur-lined hood. The girl’s defense attorney denied the charges on her behalf, requesting her release to family custody, while the prosecutor suggested home detention with an ankle monitor as a minimum precautionary measure.
