The Montreal Roses have made a significant decision following their elimination from the W Canadian Championship by parting ways with their inaugural head coach, Robert Rositoiu. The club’s sporting director, Marinette Pichon, expressed gratitude towards Rositoiu for his foundational role in establishing the professional women’s soccer club during its early stages. Despite acknowledging Rositoiu’s professionalism and dedication, the club believes a fresh perspective is necessary to propel them through the remainder of the season and advance the club’s growth.
Currently positioned in second place in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, the Roses have 10 matches remaining in their regular season. Rositoiu was appointed head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the Roses’ debut season in the NSL in 2025.
In the interim, Maryse Bard-Martel, who previously served as the team’s first assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will step in as the interim head coach as the club begins the search for a permanent replacement for Rositoiu. Bard-Martel will lead the team in their upcoming match against AFC Toronto this Sunday.
