“Nightclub Security Personnel Charged in Winnipeg Player Assault”

Date:

Three security personnel at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg are facing assault charges following an incident that left a Winnipeg Sea Bears player with serious injuries earlier this month, according to authorities. Teddy Allen was assaulted at the nightclub during the early hours of August 3 and subsequently hospitalized, as reported by the Canadian Elite Basketball League team. The three individuals, aged 35, 37, and 58, who were employed at the establishment, were arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm. They were later released on undertakings. The police did not disclose the name of the nightclub but confirmed its location on Main Street, situated between Portage and William avenues. Allen, in a statement released by the team, mentioned that he has undergone medical evaluations, received a diagnosis, and is currently recovering at home. He expressed that the assault was unwarranted and should not have occurred, emphasizing his determination to bounce back from the incident. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information, such as dashcam footage or videos captured on security or mobile devices around the time of the assault, to contact the Winnipeg police major crimes unit at 204-986-6219 or provide anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS or online. CBC News has sought a response from the Sea Bears regarding the incident.
