Fatal Emergency Landing: Plane Crash on Foothills Boulevard

Date:

Prince George RCMP have verified that an individual has passed away following an emergency landing of an aircraft on Foothills Boulevard, situated approximately 1.5 kilometers north of North Nechako Road. The RCMP mentioned that two motor vehicles were part of the incident. A statement from the RCMP expressed condolences over the fatality of one occupant in the event, while the status of potential injuries to other vehicle occupants and plane passengers remains uncertain.

Authorities have advised the public to steer clear of the area as Foothills Boulevard has been shut down to traffic in both directions and will remain closed overnight and through Friday. The Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation, as stated by the police. Emergency services responded to a section of northern Prince George where a small plane carried out an emergency landing on a bustling roadway. The incident transpired around 2:30 p.m. PT on Foothills Boulevard near Highland Drive, according to Prince George RCMP.

B.C. Emergency Health Services reported receiving a call around that time and dispatched ambulances with paramedics to the scene. Paramedics evaluated ten individuals, with two of them subsequently transported to the hospital in stable condition. Eyewitness Mohit Arora recounted the moment when the plane descended onto the road, colliding with a pickup truck. Fortunately, he narrowly avoided a collision with the aircraft’s propeller. The driver of the truck sustained injuries but survived the incident.

RCMP Cpl. Jennifer Cooper highlighted the complexity of the situation involving two cars and emphasized the unpredictability that hindered emergency maneuvers. Prince George Fire Rescue acknowledged responding to a serious incident involving a plane and vehicles. The Transportation Safety Board identified the aircraft involved as a Beech King Air 200 and dispatched a team to investigate the occurrence. Visual evidence captured by Arora depicted the damaged aircraft and vehicles at the scene. Authorities have urged people to avoid the area, emphasizing an extended closure of the road.
