The Canadian senior women’s basketball team dominated the Philippines with a resounding 85-38 victory at the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament in Guadalajara, Mexico. Yvonne Ejim led the scoring for Canada with 19 points, while Syla Swords contributed 15 points to the win.
Canada quickly established a commanding lead of 23-4 at Arena Astros and maintained a significant advantage of 46-11 by halftime. The tournament, featuring eight teams, is set to run until Sunday.
Having started the competition with a 72-57 win against Senegal on Monday, the Canadian team is scheduled to face host Mexico in their upcoming match on Thursday. The ultimate victor of the tournament will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in February 2028.
