“Montreal RCMP Foils AI Terror Plot by Minor”

Date:

The RCMP in Montreal has apprehended a minor linked to terrorism accusations. According to a recent statement by the RCMP, there is evidence suggesting that the “young man” was planning an assault on a local school in the city. Allegedly, he utilized artificial intelligence in the potential scheme and made threatening posts on Telegram, targeting various groups such as Muslims, Haitians, and 2SLGBTQ+ communities. Sgt. Érique Gasse, a spokesperson for the RCMP, mentioned that the FBI provided tips a few weeks ago, alerting them about the individual’s intentions.

The arrest took place at the minor’s residence on Friday morning as part of an investigation conducted by the Integrated National Security Enforcement Team, which focuses on monitoring and disrupting criminal activities associated with terrorist threats to Canada’s national security.

Gasse stated that the minor is currently being questioned by investigators while authorities search his home for electronic devices or any items relevant to the case. The purpose of the police operation was to thwart the suspected activities of the individual and to obtain a peace bond for monitoring and intervention purposes. The minor is scheduled to appear in youth court on Saturday morning, with the possibility of facing charges at a later stage.
