Atlético Madrid has secured a loan deal for Canadian forward Jonathan David from Juventus in Italy for the upcoming season, as confirmed by both clubs on Tuesday. The 26-year-old, hailing from Ottawa, played 46 matches for Juventus last season, scoring eight goals, and has made one appearance in the current season.
David will be vying for playing time at Madrid alongside Julián Alvarez and Alexander Sørloth, who have been sidelined due to a muscle injury at the start of the season. Previously, he netted 109 goals in 232 games for Lille in France, where he clinched Ligue 1 and the French Super Cup titles before moving to Juventus in 2025.
As Canada’s leading men’s scorer with 42 goals, David is set to join Atlético Ottawa, his hometown team in the Canadian Premier League. Madrid’s upcoming matches include a showdown with Athletic Club on Saturday and a Champions League clash against Liverpool on September 9.
