Selma Blair’s Reps Defend Actor Amid Flight Incident

Date:

Selma Blair’s representatives have addressed the recent incident leading to the actor’s arrest during a flight on October 11. They emphasized that the public narrative surrounding the event has primarily relied on official statements and outdated information.

The actor faced charges of injuring two flight attendants during a trip from Los Angeles to New York. Additionally, she was accused of assaulting a police officer and a nurse at the hospital. Blair appeared in court on October 12, pleading not guilty to two counts of second-degree assault before being released on bail.

According to her representative, Blair experienced a medical emergency on the flight and did not have any intention to harm anyone. They clarified that there was no attempt to open the aircraft door. The representative also highlighted the impact of Blair’s multiple sclerosis on her actions, noting that missing doses of essential medication contributed to the incident.

Addressing concerns about Blair’s health conditions, the representative emphasized that she has been public about her multiple sclerosis diagnosis since 2018. They mentioned her struggles with pain and a neurological condition, which can influence her behavior during medical episodes.

Furthermore, the statement discussed Blair’s advocacy work for disability rights and other communities, emphasizing her positive contributions amidst the challenges she faces. It also acknowledged Blair’s past airplane incident in 2016, where she attributed her behavior to a mix of alcohol and medication.

Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, Blair’s spokesperson urged a comprehensive review of the facts before forming judgments. The representative highlighted Blair’s upcoming projects in the film industry and her commitment to advocacy efforts, calling for a balanced understanding of the situation.
