“Amsterdam Police Investigate Possible Identities for “Lucky””

Date:

After collaborating with Canadian authorities, Amsterdam police have confirmed that the man known as “Lucky” is not the missing Canadian, Mr. Kenny. However, they are now investigating leads pointing to at least nine possible identities for Lucky.

A man collapsed on a street in Amsterdam three years ago and is believed to have suffered a stroke or brain hemorrhage, leaving him with aphasia, a language impairment. Referred to as “Lucky,” he had no identification, used various nicknames, and conducted most transactions in cash, leaving minimal official records.

Following a video appeal by the cold case unit, tips suggested a potential link to John Russell Kenny, who went missing from Vancouver over three decades ago. Kenny, now 67, had a history of mental health issues and transient living. Clues indicate similarities between Lucky and Kenny, including their use of English with a North American accent.

Vancouver police are actively collaborating with Dutch authorities and Interpol to verify if Lucky is Kenny. While DNA testing is limited without family consent, investigators are pursuing leads cautiously to avoid false hope for families. Lucky, currently residing in an Amsterdam care center, struggles with communication and decision-making abilities.

Before his collapse, Lucky was involved in a Buddhist community in Amsterdam and may have ties to Nepal. Dutch authorities are working to identify him, hoping to reunite him with any potential family members.
