Angelina Jolie’s Driver Forced into Ukraine Conflict

Date:

Dmytro Pyshchikov, the driver-bodyguard for Angelina Jolie, has revealed that he was compelled to participate in the conflict in Ukraine after being detained while accompanying the film star on a tour in the war-torn country. Pyshchikov, 33, was stopped at a checkpoint during Jolie’s visit on November 5 and subsequently taken to a recruitment office despite claiming an exemption due to a spinal condition. He has since confirmed being sent to a military training center before being deployed to the front line.

Jolie was in Ukraine with the Legacy of War Foundation, a charity established by Giles Duley, a photographer and triple amputee. The Ukrainian ground forces acknowledged Pyshchikov as Jolie’s driver during the visit, clarifying that neither Jolie nor her team influenced the military or civil officials as suggested online.

Pyshchikov, now 33, expressed his intention to complete training and serve in the army after his time at the Territorial Recruitment Centre. In a video message post-release, he reassured followers that he was safe and had not fled. The recruitment surge in Ukraine is a response to Russia’s aggression, with Pyshchikov previously voicing concerns that his exemption was disregarded.

During her trip, Jolie commended the resilience of the people in Mykolaiv and Kherson facing daily dangers. She highlighted their unwavering strength and mutual support amidst global neglect of civilian protection. As she departed, Ukrainian border guards presented her with national symbols and the emblem of the State Border Guard Service as a token of appreciation.
