Anthony Joshua has made it clear that he will not hold back against Jake Paul and stated that only a knockout victory will fulfill his desire for aggression. The former heavyweight champion is set to face the YouTuber in what is expected to be a one-sided match in Miami on December 19, with Joshua earning a substantial sum of up to £70 million for what may be seen as a glorified sparring session given his credentials as an Olympic champion.
Joshua, who disclosed that he will be trained by Oleksandr Usyk’s team for the fight, emphasized that he is aiming for an early stoppage. “Simply defeating him is not enough for me; I have to knock him out,” he declared. “My intention is to inflict damage on him both facially and physically. I am determined to demonstrate my superiority as a fighter and will continue to do so until I retire. I am fully committed to the task at hand. I want to cause him harm, I want to cause him significant harm inside the ring.”
“I plan to advance aggressively and assert my dominance. I will deliver powerful blows and expose him to certain boxing techniques that he may not have encountered before. I will introduce him to a different level of boxing that he has yet to experience.”
Joshua also acknowledged the fighting spirit of his opponent, who has competed professionally 13 times since debuting in 2020. “Jake is a legitimate fighter. Consider this: when I started boxing, I walked into the gym with my cousin, believing I could succeed; three years later, I was at the Olympics,” he reflected. “He has been in this sport for five years. After three years, I was considered the underdog with no one believing in me. You cannot underestimate anyone.”
On the other hand, Paul expressed his willingness to make significant sacrifices in order to achieve what would be considered a monumental upset in the history of boxing. “This was never expected to happen when I first entered the boxing scene,” he said. “No one believes I can win, so add yourself to the list and prepare to be surprised. I am confident in my power and timing. It’s the unexpected shots that make the difference, and I am a crafty knockout artist; he needs to be cautious. I predict a knockout in the fourth or fifth round. I am prepared to go to the extreme to secure victory in this fight.”
