Anthony Joshua’s Driver Faces Charges in Fatal Crash

Date:

Anthony Joshua’s driver is facing charges of reckless and dangerous driving following a tragic accident that resulted in the deaths of two of the boxer’s close associates. Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, aged 46, was behind the wheel of a black Lexus Jeep carrying Joshua, Latif Ayodele, and Sina Ghami when it collided with a parked truck on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. Kayode was treated for injuries in Lagos before being taken to Abeokuta, Ogun state.

Reportedly, Kayode was interrogated and provided a statement about the events leading up to the crash, which claimed the lives of Ayodele and Ghami. He was declared wanted by the police after initially fleeing the scene. The driver has now been brought before the Sagamu Magistrate Court and granted bail.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Kayode is facing charges of causing death by dangerous driving, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care, and driving without a valid license. The case has been adjourned to January 20.

In a tragic turn of events, the fatal crash occurred shortly after Joshua’s recent boxing match. The accident has deeply impacted Joshua, who is now focused on recovering from minor injuries sustained in the crash. The boxing community has come together to mourn the loss of Ghami and Ayodele and offer their condolences to their families.

The crash investigation revealed that the incident was triggered by a tire blowout due to excessive speed. The parked truck involved was found to be illegally parked at the time. Despite the tragedy, Joshua’s determination to return to boxing remains uncertain as he copes with the loss of his team members and close friends.
