The Bath Christmas Market, currently ongoing until December 14th in the heart of the historic city, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The event promises a cozy festive setting with twinkling chalets, unique gifts, and gourmet food and drinks. The market aims to bring the Christmas spirit alive in the city center.
Recently, the city, known for its Georgian architecture, was voted the UK’s best Christmas Market by Which?, a well-known publication. Which? lauded the city for its food and drink offerings, cultural attractions, and the addition of over 200 chalets during the Christmas season. The market also showcases local produce from artisans in Bristol and the South West of England.
However, some individuals on TikTok have expressed disappointment with their experiences at the market. One user criticized the lack of holiday ambiance and poor customer service, while another user shared a video titled “Bath Christmas Market is a hellscape” showing overcrowded conditions at the event.
Despite the negative feedback, not all visitors share the same sentiment. One TikTok user recounted a positive experience at the market, mentioning a pleasant day spent exploring the stalls, enjoying the atmosphere, and indulging in street food.
In response to the social media criticism, Councillor Manda Rigby defended the market, highlighting its success in supporting local businesses and creating job opportunities. Rigby emphasized that the market is well-managed and has received positive feedback from both vendors and visitors.
