Bettor Turns £10 into Nearly £50k with One Winning Horse

Date:

A bettor recently transformed a £10 wager into almost £50,000 through a six-horse accumulator bet with only one winning selection. The individual, who is a customer of William Hill, cashed in £47,351.56 after choosing horses for an each-way sixfold, staking a total of £10. The selections were made for races held at Cheltenham, Doncaster, and Newbury on Saturday.

What made this win particularly remarkable was that out of the six chosen horses, only one secured a first-place finish. The accumulator began with Great Fleet coming in second at 25-1 odds in a novices’ hurdle at Cheltenham, followed by Hoe Joly Smoke finishing third at 12-1 in a handicap chase at the same venue.

Subsequently, at Doncaster, Figjam placed second at 16/1 in a Listed race, while at Cheltenham, Supremely West clinched third at 18-1 in a handicap hurdle. Arabian Desert then secured second place at 16/1 in the Horris Hill Stakes at Newbury on the Flat.

The outcome hinged on Hamish winning the St Simon Stakes, with the nine-year-old triumphing at odds of 11-2, significantly boosting the final payout due to Best Odds Guaranteed applying to two of the selections.

William Hill’s spokesperson, Lee Phelps, expressed surprise at the bet’s success, acknowledging the punter’s skill in turning a modest stake into a substantial sum nearing £50,000. Phelps highlighted the significance of Best Odds Guaranteed for bettors and commended the individual for their exceptional achievement in securing such a lucrative return with only one winning pick.
