“Boy Thrown from Tate Modern Balcony Shows Remarkable Recovery”

Date:

The family of a young boy who was thrown from the 10th floor of an art gallery in London six years ago has provided an encouraging update. The French child, who was six at the time, sustained severe injuries, including a brain bleed and broken bones, in the incident at the Tate Modern. The perpetrator, teenager Jonty Bravery, threw him off the balcony in August 2019.

In a recent statement, the boy’s family shared that he has made significant progress in his recovery. He has regained the ability to run, jump, and swim, marking a remarkable improvement in his condition. Affectionately nicknamed the ‘Little Knight’ by his family, he recently accomplished a 2.5-hour cycling journey from home to the seaside, a goal he set for himself.

Although the boy is scheduled for another major operation early next year that will require a two-month recovery period, he has demonstrated remarkable resilience by regaining physical abilities. His family mentioned that his memory skills are slowly improving, allowing him to engage more with other children. They also highlighted his growing maturity and relaxation techniques learned during therapy sessions.

Despite requiring ten rehabilitation sessions per week, the boy can only attend half of his classes due to his health needs. His family is actively seeking a school that can accommodate his schedule while ensuring he receives a full education. They expressed the need to relocate to access a suitable school that aligns with his rehabilitation requirements.

Looking ahead, the boy faces another upcoming surgery in 2026, which is crucial for his continued progress and pain management. The family acknowledged his concerns about the operation but emphasized the positive outcomes anticipated by medical professionals based on his current advancements. They shared these updates on a GoFundMe page created to support his recovery journey, which has raised over £476,000.

Jonty Bravery, the perpetrator, was 17 years old at the time of the attack and was sentenced to at least 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted murder.
