A 63-year-old British man passed away after collapsing at the summit of a mountain during a hike to celebrate his daughter’s birthday. The incident occurred at Ella Rock in southern Sri Lanka, where the man suffered a sudden heart attack upon reaching the top. The climb, undertaken on October 25 to mark his daughter’s 34th birthday, typically takes several hours to complete.
Following his collapse, authorities swiftly transported the man to Bandarawela Hospital, but unfortunately, he could not be revived. An autopsy revealed that the cause of death was a heart attack. The father and daughter had arrived in Sri Lanka on October 16 and had previously explored the coastal town of Weligama before embarking on the ill-fated hike to Ella Rock.
In a separate incident, a British fashion and travel influencer named Ebony McIntosh, aged 24, tragically passed away from an undisclosed illness while on a trip in Sri Lanka. Ebony, who was backpacking at the time, was hospitalized along with other tourists from her hostel for symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, and respiratory problems. Despite receiving medical attention, she succumbed to the illness shortly after admission.
In a heartfelt tribute on social media, Ebony’s younger sister India expressed her deep sorrow and longing for her sister’s return. She lamented the loss of her beloved sibling, emphasizing the void left by Ebony’s untimely passing and the injustice of her premature departure. India’s message conveyed profound grief and a desire for closure and justice in the wake of the tragic loss.
