“BT Unveils Smart Hub 3 Router with Advanced Security Features”

Date:

BT has introduced a new method for internet access that goes beyond simple connectivity. The latest Smart Hub 3 Wi-Fi router from the company will soon be available in UK households, offering not only improved connectivity but also enhanced security features.

One notable feature is the technology integrated into the router that can automatically identify potentially harmful websites, alerting users to possible malware or other online threats before any damage occurs. Additionally, the router can detect and block suspicious activities by hackers attempting to access smart home devices like internet-connected cameras.

Users will have the ability to monitor any identified threats using the Hub Threat Protect feature within the MyBT app. These enhancements are aimed at helping households enhance their online security and proactively defend against potential cyberattacks.

In addition to security, the Smart Hub 3 prioritizes performance. It supports Complete Wi-Fi Plus, which assists in extending signal coverage throughout the home and eliminating dead zones in areas with weaker connectivity.

The Smart Hub 3 boasts a sleek and minimalist design with a small BT logo positioned at its center, as revealed in images published by Mirror Online. Notably, the router supports Wi-Fi 6 technology rather than the newer Wi-Fi 7 standard seen in some competitor devices, such as those from EE.

While Wi-Fi 7 offers faster speeds, lower latency, and enhanced reliability, many currently used devices do not support this standard yet. As a result, Wi-Fi 6 remains sufficient for most households, representing a significant improvement over older Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4 equipment.

For those interested in obtaining the new router, BT’s Smart Hub 3 will be accessible to new customers, with some existing users potentially eligible for an upgrade.

The distinction between Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 lies in their capabilities. Wi-Fi 6 enhanced wireless performance by boosting speed, efficiency, and capacity compared to previous standards. On the other hand, Wi-Fi 7 offers wider 320 MHz channels, reduced latency, and even higher speeds, making it particularly beneficial for activities like gaming, 8K streaming, and advanced smart home configurations.

While Wi-Fi 6 remains a solid choice for most users today, Wi-Fi 7 provides a more future-proof solution.
