“Canada’s Tyler Mislawchuk Wins Bronze at World Triathlon Championships”

Date:

Canada’s Tyler Mislawchuk clinched a bronze medal at the World Triathlon Championship Series event held in Weihai, China. The 32-year-old athlete from Oak Bluff, Manitoba, completed the race in one hour, 41 minutes, and 25 seconds. Switzerland’s Max Studer secured the gold medal with a time of 1:41:08, while Spain’s David Campero Del Campo finished ahead of Mislawchuk by seven seconds to claim the silver.

Mislawchuk started strong with an 18:39 swim over 1.5 kilometers, followed by a 51:53 bike course. He then finished the 10km run in 29:35 to secure his spot on the podium. Expressing his excitement, Mislawchuk mentioned, “It’s been seven years with many close calls, but standing on the WTCS podium against the world’s best is incomparable. I seized an opportunity today and made my move three kilometers into the run. Throughout the last five kilometers, I reminded myself that this is what I train for every day. It’s fulfilling to perform at the highest level.”

Unfortunately, fellow Canadian Liam Donnelly did not complete the race. In the women’s competition, Canada’s Desirae Ridenour achieved her career-best eighth-place finish for the second consecutive season. The 26-year-old athlete from Cowichan Bay, British Columbia, completed all three segments in 1:50:58. France’s Cassandre Beaugrand secured the gold medal in 1:49:20, followed by Beth Potter from Great Britain in second place with a time of 1:49:26, and Germany’s Lisa Tertsch in third place with 1:49:44.

Emy Legault from L’Île Perrot, Quebec, finished 30th with a time of 1:55:54 in the event.
