The Canadian women’s basketball team wrapped up the group stage of the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament with a 70-64 victory over Mexico on Thursday evening in Guadalajara. Yvonne Ejim led the team with 19 points, while Syla Swords contributed 17 points to Canada’s 3-0 record. Mariana Valenzuela scored 17 points for Mexico.
In the upcoming semifinals on Saturday, Canada will face off against New Zealand, while the host team will take on Brazil. The ultimate showdown is scheduled for Sunday, with the tournament winner securing a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in February 2028.
