“Controversy as Cadbury Heroes Swap Eclair for Flake”

Date:

The holiday season is approaching, but not everyone is filled with joy, as a traditional favorite is being left out in the cold. A quintessential Christmas treat, no table is complete without a box of Miniature Heroes to enjoy, ideally while watching a beloved Christmas movie.

Individual preferences abound during this festive period, ensuring that there is no competition over treats. Some swear by the Dairy Milk Caramel, while others crave the crunchy sweetness of the Crunchie. Additionally, the chewy delight of Cadbury’s Eclair has long been a favorite among those who savor their sweets slowly.

However, a controversial decision has caused an uproar across the nation as the Eclair has been replaced in the iconic purple tub by the Flake. Critics note that the Flake’s texture closely mirrors that of the Twirl, which is already present in the selection. Disappointed fans took to social media to express their discontent, with one lamenting, “Why replace Eclairs with Flakes when there are already Twirls in the mix?”

Despite the backlash, some chocolate enthusiasts welcomed the change, viewing the Eclair as too hard on the teeth and a less popular choice. One supporter cheered, “The removal of Cadbury Éclairs from the Heroes tubs is a victory.”

In a move to address plastic waste concerns, Cadbury is testing new paper tubs in select Tesco outlets, with these eco-friendly tubs featuring Flakes instead of Eclairs. Traditional plastic tubs, popular among Eclair devotees, remain unchanged.

These new paper tubs, part of Cadbury’s global sustainability initiative ‘Pack Light and Right,’ will be available in stores from late October for a limited time.

Brand manager Christina Bland expressed, “For a quarter-century, Cadbury Heroes has been a cherished brand, uniting friends and family with its iconic mix. The trial of paper tubs signifies our commitment to exploring sustainable packaging solutions, with the introduction of Cadbury Flake offering consumers a new treat to enjoy.”
