“Cristiano Ronaldo Plans Retirement After 2026 World Cup”

Date:

Cristiano Ronaldo has indicated that he expects to continue playing for another one or two years, confirming that the 2026 World Cup will mark his retirement from the sport. The 40-year-old Portuguese football star shared his thoughts during an interview at the TOURISE Riyadh event, following his recent statement to Piers Morgan Uncensored where he hinted at an upcoming retirement.

Although Ronaldo initially joked about retiring “soon” possibly in 10 years, he clarified that he is currently enjoying his career, feeling fit, sharp, and still scoring goals. He mentioned that he plans to stay active in the game for another one or two years before calling it quits, with the 2026 World Cup being his swan song.

Reflecting on his achievements over the past 25 years in football, Ronaldo expressed pride in his records at club and national levels. Despite his successful career, winning the Euros with Portugal in 2016, the World Cup title remains the major trophy he aims to secure. Ronaldo recently extended his contract with Al Nassr for an additional two years.

When asked about his retirement timeline in a previous interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo acknowledged that stepping away from the game would be emotional and challenging. He emphasized that he is prepared for this inevitable transition, knowing it will be a tough decision that might bring tears.

Sky has introduced a discounted Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle package for the 2025/26 season, offering over 1,400 live matches across various leagues, including at least 215 live Premier League games. This move aims to enhance the viewing experience for football fans and provide access to a wide range of exciting matches.
