David Malukas set the pace with the quickest practice lap during the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy event held in Markham. Malukas clocked in an impressive time of 1 minute 14.194 seconds in the second practice session of the day, with qualifying scheduled for the evening.
Following closely behind, Alex Palou secured the second-fastest time with a lap time of 1:14.560, while Dennis Hauger claimed the third spot with a time of 1:14.592 around the downtown road course in Markham.
Due to incomplete course preparations and safety inspections, the organizers were forced to cancel the first day of track sessions. This caused a delay in the event proceedings.
This year marks the inaugural hosting of the race in Markham, moving from its long-standing location at Toronto’s Exhibition Place, where it had been held since its inception in 1986.
Earlier in the day, Palou also demonstrated his speed by topping the charts in the morning’s first practice session, completing the circuit in 1:14.9915.
The event continues to draw attention as drivers showcase their skills on the challenging Markham track.
