“Farage Urged to Denounce Outdated Attitudes in Reform UK”

Date:

Nigel Farage has been called upon to denounce the outdated attitudes within his party after one of his MPs criticized the emergence of an “LGBT supporting” coalition in the country.

Danny Kruger, who recently switched allegiance from the Conservatives to Reform UK, raised eyebrows with his remarks about a potential alliance of “left-wing parties.” In a video posted on Reform UK’s YouTube channel, he equated support for LGBT rights with endorsing Hamas.

Critics have deemed Kruger’s comments as antiquated and inappropriate, urging Farage to disavow them. This backlash follows Farage’s reluctance to condemn a controversial statement made by Reform’s Sarah Pochin, who expressed displeasure at seeing Black and Asian individuals in advertisements but stopped short of labeling it as racist.

During Reform UK’s membership recruitment drive, Kruger, the son of TV personality Prue Leith, cautioned against the rise of a hypothetical nationalist party backing Hamas and LGBT causes taking the helm in the UK.

Kruger highlighted the party’s competition from Liberal Democrats, Labour, the Greens, Welsh nationalists, Scottish nationalists, and followers of Corbyn, painting a grim picture of the country’s political landscape. He warned that a post-election collaboration among these factions could lead to a detrimental outcome for the UK’s future.

Responding to Kruger’s statements, Labour MP Polly Billington criticized his divisive language, pointing out the recent controversial remarks made by Sarah Pochin. She emphasized the importance of upholding British values of decency and tolerance in the face of Reform’s divisive rhetoric.

Calling on Farage to demonstrate leadership, Billington urged him to address and repudiate these divisive views. Kruger, who previously sparked controversy with his remarks on marriage, has once again found himself embroiled in a contentious debate over his recent comments.

The ongoing controversy within Reform UK was further fueled by Sarah Pochin’s comments about diversity in advertisements, which drew criticism from various quarters. Despite growing calls for action, Farage has expressed discontent with Pochin’s remarks but stopped short of imposing any disciplinary measures, prompting further debate within the party.

Reform UK has been approached for comment on Kruger’s recent statement.
