One person was killed and another was wounded in a shooting outside a gym in Portland, Oregon.
The incident occurred in the Hollywood District of the city around 6:47 a.m. local time. Authorities are now searching for the perpetrator who fled the scene.
Emergency responders, including multiple ambulances and fire crews, arrived at the site. Portland Fire and Rescue responded to the shooting, providing immediate medical attention to the injured before transferring them to the hospital.
Initial reports suggested there were multiple victims, but local officials later clarified that only two individuals were harmed. Police have since provided an update on the conditions of the two injured individuals.
Regrettably, one of the victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the other was taken to the hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening.
According to the Portland Police statement, “One individual was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.” A police spokesperson emphasized that the incident was not a mass shooting or an active shooter situation.
This shooting follows a recent incident where a 14-year-old, Marik Roscoe, was shot in the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood of Portland, resulting in injuries to a 17-year-old and a 42-year-old.
