A brave father used his car to stop a knife-wielding man who had allegedly attacked multiple people on a train just before police arrived to apprehend him.
Dave Scott, 57, was waiting at Huntingdon railway station to pick up his daughter when a man with a knife tried to enter his car. Mr. Scott, a resident of St Ives in Cambridgeshire, recounted to the BBC how he noticed the knifeman approaching him and attempting to open his car door.
As the attacker started damaging his BMW with the knife, Mr. Scott drove away but turned back to confront him if necessary. Shortly after, the police arrived on the scene.
Witnesses, including Nottingham Forest fan Stephen Crean, who also intervened during the incident, shared their experiences. Crean described facing the attacker as he saw the man with a rucksack approaching.
Amira Ostalski, another passenger on the train during the stabbings, recounted the chaos and fear that ensued among passengers. She sought refuge in the buffet car, using a metal tray to shield herself and her friend from the assailant.
Factory worker Stephen Crean, 61, returning home after a football match, was also caught up in the incident. He sustained multiple stab wounds while helping others seek safety before confronting the attacker.
The suspect, Anthony Williams, 32, appeared in court facing charges of attempted murder related to the train incident and a separate knife attack on a different train in east London. Williams remains in custody pending further court appearances.
Cambridgeshire Police are investigating other knife-related incidents potentially linked to Williams, with the British Transport Police leading the inquiry.
