The former football star faced another setback earlier this year during a fishing trip when he slipped and fractured his left kneecap, necessitating the use of a brace. Gascoigne, also known as Gazza, expressed his commitment to maintaining a slim physique, highlighting his history of purging and his current efforts to avoid being an overweight retired athlete.

During an interview to promote his new book ‘Eight’, Gascoigne revealed his relentless pursuit of fitness, having undergone multiple surgeries to rebuild his body. He recounted enduring 38 operations, including a significant cruciate ligament injury to his left knee during the 1991 FA Cup final, which led to further complications following an assault in a Newcastle nightclub.

Moreover, Gascoigne’s battle with alcoholism resulted in a challenging journey, including a life-threatening incident during a rehab stint in Arizona in 2013.
