“Generous Couple Donates 450 Trees to Wildfire-Stricken Town”

Date:

A charitable act has brought hope to the Town of Small Point-Broad Cove-Blackhead-Adam’s Cove, which was devastated by wildfires last summer. A couple from the Codroy Valley generously donated over 450 trees to the community. Harrison Bragg and Judy Warren, who were closing their nursery business, traveled a long distance to deliver the trees to Conception Bay North.

Despite facing a seven-hour delay due to a vehicle accident on the Trans-Canada highway, Bragg and Warren persevered. They arrived late and had to spend the night in their truck as they couldn’t find accommodations. The following day, the community organized a tree distribution event, and residents eagerly collected the donated trees.

The couple was overwhelmed by the positive response from the community. Warren shared touching stories of residents who had lost everything in the fires, including a woman who hugged her multiple times after receiving trees to replant her garden. The community also expressed plans to involve students in replanting efforts near the school.

The donation, valued at nearly $9,000, was a significant contribution to the town’s recovery efforts. Mayor Curtis Delaney expressed gratitude for Bragg and Warren’s generosity, emphasizing that their kindness extended beyond the trees. Bragg mentioned plans to send thousands of seeds for further tree planting next summer, with the goal of restoring greenery to the area.

The act of kindness has left a lasting impact on the community, inspiring hope and unity among residents. The couple’s selfless gesture not only provided physical resources but also symbolized a shared commitment to rebuilding and restoring the town’s natural beauty.
