Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc have both turned to Instagram to express their backing for their Ferrari team members and supporters. This gesture follows chairman John Elkann’s recent advice to prioritize driving over excessive dialogue.
Ferrari had a mixed weekend in motorsport events. While they secured both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships at the World Endurance Championship finale in Bahrain, the Brazilian Grand Prix turned out to be disastrous. Hamilton’s race was cut short after a collision with Franco Colapinto’s Alpine damaged his SF-25 significantly, leading to his retirement.
Similarly, Leclerc’s race also ended prematurely due to an incident involving Oscar Piastri and Kimi Antonelli during a safety car restart on the sixth lap. With both drivers failing to finish, Ferrari now sits fourth in the World Championship, trailing Mercedes by 26 points and Red Bull by four, prompting a strong response from Elkann.
In a fiery statement, Elkann highlighted the team’s success in the World Endurance Championship but expressed disappointment over the Formula One performance. He emphasized the importance of the team’s mechanics in maintaining their championship hopes and urged the drivers to concentrate more on driving and less on other distractions.
In response to Elkann’s remarks, Hamilton shared a post on Instagram thanking fans for their support despite the disappointing race. Leclerc also acknowledged the challenging weekend in São Paulo, emphasizing the need for unity within the team to overcome their current standings in the constructors championship.
