A 20-year-old student tragically lost her life after being hit by a hit-and-run driver while jogging near Lawrence Regional Airport in Kansas City. Elsa McGrain, a University of Kansas student from Omaha, Nebraska, was found deceased nearly 10 hours after the incident. She was a pre-med student set to graduate in 2026.
Authorities discovered Elsa’s body early Friday morning, following a passerby’s report. The investigation revealed a white pickup truck as a vehicle of interest, with no charges filed yet. Nonetheless, a 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicions of involuntary manslaughter. Elsa was an active member of Chi Omega sorority, where she served as house manager.
Chi Omega expressed deep sorrow over Elsa’s passing, describing her as a genuine, kind-hearted individual who radiated positivity. Elsa’s faith, compassion, and leadership qualities touched many lives within her community.
