“Hollywood Comes to Yorkshire: Tinsel Town Christmas Movie Premieres Nov. 28”

Date:

If you’ve ever dreamed of wandering through a picturesque, festive village with a warm hot chocolate in hand, reminiscent of scenes from a Christmas movie, now is your chance.

Earlier this year, residents in the beautiful Yorkshire town of Knaresborough had the thrill of spotting celebrities as film crews descended on the area. The upcoming Sky Original Christmas film, Tinsel Town, set to premiere on November 28, will star Hollywood stars Kiefer Sutherland and Rebel Wilson, alongside talented actors such as Derek Jacobi and Danny Dyer.

Reported by YorkshireLive, the town’s locals were able to enjoy the holiday decorations for an extended period during the filming process. Shopkeeper Di Watson from Knitting Pretty expressed the excitement in the town, describing Knaresborough as unique, beautiful, and welcoming.

Knaresborough has been chosen as a filming location for seasonal movies before, such as the TV film A Very British Christmas, available on Amazon Prime, which was predominantly shot in the town.

For those seeking a festive adventure, Knaresborough offers the perfect backdrop. Starting at the stone-paved Market Square, surrounded by independent shops and cozy pubs, visitors can explore the town’s charm. A regular market is held on Wednesdays, with a special Christmas market scheduled for December 6 and 7, featuring local vendors and handmade goods.

Nearby, Green Dragon Yard, another filming location, will be adorned with festive trimmings. The historic Market Square houses a vintage shop and a quirky tearoom. Film crews were also spotted along Castlegate, a narrow street teeming with unique shops and cafes.

Castlegate leads to Knaresborough Castle, once a royal residence and now a museum showcasing original furniture. The castle offers a view of the iconic Knaresborough Viaduct, a historic railway bridge that collapsed during construction in 1848, causing a temporary delay. The viaduct was rebuilt in 1851 using sturdy stone.

For a cozy pre-Christmas getaway, consider staying at Knaresborough Inn overlooking the River Nidd, offering comfortable rooms and classic British cuisine. Nearby, The Mitre pub, known for craft beers and Asian-inspired dishes, provides accommodation including an apartment for up to four guests.

Whether you’re looking for a winter escape or a taste of Christmas magic, Knaresborough, just a short train ride from London with a transfer in York, promises a festive experience. However, we can’t guarantee you’ll find love with a charming local shop owner during your visit.
