Two individuals have been apprehended following the tragic death of an infant boy in a vicious XL bully dog attack in South Wales. The distressing incident occurred in Rogiet, prompting emergency services to respond at 6pm on Sunday. Sadly, a nine-month-old baby was pronounced deceased at the scene. Gwent Police disclosed that two residents of Rogiet were arrested on suspicion of failing to control a dog that caused fatal injuries due to its aggressive behavior. Subsequently, they were released on police bail as investigations progress.
The dog implicated in the attack was identified as a six-year-old XL bully, duly registered with the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra), having obtained a certificate of exemption in 2024.
Assistant Chief Constable Vicki Townsend emphasized that the arrests were part of an extensive inquiry aimed at comprehending the circumstances surrounding the tragic event. She urged the public to refrain from speculating or making online comments that could jeopardize the ongoing criminal investigation and legal proceedings. Concerned individuals with relevant information, particularly regarding the male, black XL bully dog’s previous behavior, were encouraged to reach out directly to the authorities.
