Just Eat Takeaway.com, a prominent on-demand delivery service provider, has revealed its decision to discontinue its Menulog operations in Australia due to challenging circumstances. The company’s Australian online platform for food and beverage ordering, Menulog, will no longer accept orders starting from Wednesday, November 26. Menulog, established in 2006 and acquired by Just Eat in 2015, merged with the company to become Just Eat Takeaway.com in 2020.
In a statement, the company acknowledged Menulog’s proud 20-year history but highlighted the challenging environment it has faced. The strategic move to cease Menulog operations aligns with the company’s focus on enhancing growth and investments in other markets to provide superior customer, partner, and courier experiences.
Around 120 employees will be affected by this decision, with the company assuring full support for impacted employees through generous redundancy packages exceeding legal requirements and outplacement assistance.
Just Eat Takeaway.com operates in various countries, including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
Menulog, known for its past advertisements featuring celebrities like Christina Aguilera and Snoop Dogg, will maintain platform activity until November 26 at 23:59 AEDT. Morten Belling, Managing Director of Menulog, emphasized the difficulty of the decision and assured a two-week transition period for customers to redeem vouchers and credits, with eligible couriers entitled to a four-week voluntary payment. Belling expressed gratitude to all partners and supporters of Menulog throughout the years for their collaboration.
The company’s move to discontinue Menulog operations in Australia reflects its strategic business decisions and commitment to enhancing services in other markets.
