Labour MP Calvin Bailey has criticized Reform UK MP Sarah Pochin and Tory MP Robert Jenrick for what he called “racist” remarks. Bailey, who served in the Royal Air Force for over 24 years, accused Pochin and Jenrick of betraying their communities and emphasized the importance of diversity in society.
Jenrick faced backlash for comments made earlier this year where he expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of white faces during a visit to Birmingham, stating his desire for better integration in the country. Pochin also received criticism for her remarks regarding diversity in advertisements.
Bailey highlighted the significance of Remembrance Sunday as a day to honor veterans who stood for values like dignity and unity. He emphasized the need to reflect on the kind of society people want to build today, condemning divisive politics.
The MP expressed concern over recent statements made by Pochin and Jenrick, labeling them as racist and emphasizing the importance of inclusivity in British society. Bailey stressed that diversity enriches the nation and pointed out the contributions of people from various backgrounds throughout history.
Bailey concluded by urging for unity and progress in the face of division, emphasizing the value of respecting all individuals as integral parts of the past, present, and future of Britain.
