“Las Vegas Grand Prix Weather Concerns Ease”

Date:

In spite of the recent flooding in Las Vegas, the upcoming Formula 1 event this weekend is not expected to be affected by the wet weather. The city experienced heavy rain on Tuesday, resulting in localized flooding on some streets. Social media platforms were flooded with videos showcasing the aftermath of the downpour, including images of standing water on a portion of the street circuit.

Mirror Sport arrived in Las Vegas on Tuesday evening and observed vehicles maneuvering through significant puddles near Harry Reid International Airport, located to the city’s south. Such occurrences are common in a city situated within the heart of the Nevada desert.

By Wednesday morning, the sun had reappeared, and much of the standing water had evaporated. A visit by Mirror Sport to the Linq Hotel, where many viral videos were captured, revealed a noticeable reduction in the amount of standing and flowing water present.

When contacted by Mirror Sport, an F1 spokesperson chose not to comment, indicating no concerns about the potential impact of the weather on the upcoming race activities.

Rain showers reappeared on Wednesday afternoon during media day activities. This led to many drivers arriving equipped with umbrellas as the circuit received further precipitation, although no significant issues arose in terms of standing water on the track.

More rain is forecasted for Thursday evening, coinciding with the initial practice sessions, and also expected on Friday morning. However, the outlook suggests an improvement in conditions as the weekend progresses, with a dry race anticipated on Saturday night local time.

Event organizers are optimistic that the rainy weather will not deter attendees, especially during a year marked by decreased tourism in the city. Ticket prices have been significantly reduced for this year’s Las Vegas Grand Prix, with some single-day passes available for as low as £38.

Consequently, ticket sales are up by approximately 50% compared to 2024, with an event spokesperson confirming a positive trend towards a sold-out event. Additionally, spectators can look forward to extra track activities this year, including the season finale of the all-female F1 Academy series.
