Passenger Discovers Loaded Gun Magazine on Plane, Prompting Evacuation
A Frontier Airlines Airbus A320 at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport faced evacuation after a passenger found a loaded gun magazine near seat 7A. The discovery of the magazine, containing ten hollow point rounds, led to the swift removal of passengers from the aircraft. Authorities including TSA, Frontier Airlines, Homeland Security, and Police K-9 units responded to the scene following the alarming find.
The FBI was also contacted as Atlanta Police disclosed that the magazine, marked with “K H” initials, was located during boarding for a return flight to Cincinnati. The magazine was promptly removed, and passengers underwent rescreening before the flight resumed nearly three and a half hours later. Images captured a crew member announcing the evacuation to passengers in a calm manner.
According to a statement from Atlanta Police, the incident occurred on November 9, 2025, at around 4:32 PM when the firearm magazine was discovered. The flight, operating between Cincinnati and Atlanta, was thoroughly inspected by authorities, yielding no further concerning items. After passengers were rescreened, the flight departed safely at 7:56 PM, with no ongoing threats identified.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the ownership of the gun, as reported by local news outlets. Witnesses on the plane expressed astonishment at the situation, with one passenger remarking it was a unique experience amidst typical flight delays and cancellations. Another passenger voiced relief that the potential danger was averted by the timely removal of the gun magazine.
